Ceiling Refinishing

Where do I start? Prorise painting is a company with a great reputation and excellent reviews. Their employees are great and the quality of work is good as well. Sergio especially is an amazing addition to any team and has the work ethic and skills that can't be matched. They are responsible when it comes to fixing problems in the job and dealing with warranty related issues. That is however where the good points end. The management team at Prorise lacks communication and responsibility. On our project, everything was split into 3 phases on our request. On the first phase a seemingly $5900 job somehow had an extra 20 hours of labour work added on, even though the original scope was never changed. The estimator failed to properly determine the actual number of hours required and thus the job ran over schedule delaying the other trades. The production manager was difficult to reach and only made 1 phone call during the entire first phase. Once we got through to discuss the overage on hours, I was told "it's a renovation these things happen ". Missed dates and no shows were common and there was never any communication made until after the fact. This would be when an excuse would be made in regards to why the no show occurred. However, these excuses do not hold water. Because of a tight schedule and other complications which would prevent me from using a different company, we were stuck with Prorise to have the job completed. During phase 2, the job start was delayed by 4 days and with only 2 business days of notice, after which the job end was delayed by a further 1 day due to the team leaving half way through the first day to go to a different job site. Furthermore, during phase 3, when I emailed the day prior to the scheduled job start date to confirm a start time, I was told that they would have to call back to confirm. After making call after call that would go to voicemail, I finally got through and was informed that the job start would be delayed by another day. To be fair, I did have to reschedule job starts a couple of times due to delays in other areas however, I would always give at least 1.5 weeks notice. All in all the entire job has been a communication disaster with an irresponsible management team and surprise charges. Although the job has been done very well, the delays and extra charges have caused a great inconvenience to me and all the other trades working on the project. If schedule and budget are not important to you and you are fine with a job which is done very well with great finishes, just on an unpredictable schedule and possible hourly overages, this can be a great fit for you. If schedule and budget are a priority for you, I would suggest outlining these points before jobstart as it is not something that is clear at Prorise.

Company Response

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your feedback about the project.

We do understand there were some scheduling changes but this was on both ends. We worked around the changes to accommodate your new schedule. When you originally met with our estimator Joseph you had pre-booked the start dates but you had to reschedule these dates. During a renovation project, it is very common to experience scheduling delays due to other trades and influencing factors. This is typically harder to accommodate in July and August as it is our busiest time of the year. The additional cost plus items were explained to you and approved by you before proceeding with the work. 98% of our projects start and finish on budget. Any additional overages or cost-plus items are always agreed upon and signed off on by the customer prior to commencement of any additional work. We understand your frustration with the communication and delays. We have made changes to our process to minimize this from happening again.

Overall you are satisfied with the quality of work and we appreciate your feedback. Feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss this further.
