To our Friends at Oakwood,

I asked my sister who had gone through major renovations in the Toronto area what was key in having a successful
renovation. Her answer, simple…Find a reputable Contractor!

With this in mind we interviewed a number of contractors and through determination and sheer luck found Oakwood at
the Ottawa Home Show.

Oakwood helped us solidify our ideas into a 3D plan with tips, ideas and support from the entire team along the way! The
finished product is beautiful!

We will be enjoying our ‘new home’ with family & friends this holiday season.

we needed to renovarte the kitchen in order to resell the house. we are really enjoying the new kitchen.we are very pleased with their service. they did a great job installing our kitchen with less time then expected.very professional.

OakWood has met or exceeded my expectations at every step of the job. On the rare occasions when something was not the way we wanted it or thought we should have it, they listened and addressed the concerns/situation immediately with perfect solutions. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to you, John; as well as to Patricia, to Julie and Sharon and Trent, to Dennis and Paul and Kelly and Corey and Eric and Jordan and Carsten and Kevin and Curt (who's back in school now), to our painters Rolando and "Mundo", and to all those whose names I have missed or never knew.  Your employees and sub-contractors who worked here were professional, polite and respectful throughout it all.  We have the most beautiful house on Winston Avenue, thanks to you.  I've tried to write to you several times, and words have failed me.
Richard said something at Christmas that describes how we felt when we moved back in; he said, "Do you think the people who own this house will mind that we're using it?"  When I bought this place in January of 2006, I was amazed, terrified, and overwhelmed - with the baby blue bathroom fixtures and wall paneling, with the gold and orange shag carpeting from the 70s, and the dips in the stairs and the floors.  I could always see the potential; even though it was beyond my reach.  You have taken my dream and turned it into reality and more.  You have melded the new with the old; you have given our grand old girl good bones; you have helped her become a proud elder in this old neighbourhood.  No wrecking ball will touch her now.
 
I remember at the beginning when someone from Oakwood said, "You'll be glad to see the last of us when this is done!".  That couldn't be further from the truth.  This has been the adventure of a lifetime!  I'll miss everyone.
 
However, we want you to come back.  We're having a drop-in open house here between 1:00pm and 4:00pm, on Sunday, February 13, 2011, because so many of our friends and extended family are anxious to see what you've done for us.  We would be honoured to have you drop in - all of you - John, Debbie, Patricia, Sharon, Trent, Julie, Paul, Kelly, Jordan, Corey, Eric, Carsten, Kevin and those of your employees I may not have known or remembered who helped re-create the old girl, one day at a time, in good weather and bad, through the change orders and the holiday season, and the little things that happen daily for all of us.  Please come and join us.  We guarantee you a good laugh as you watch the slideshow of my first 3 1/2 year attempt at renovating alone with a friend, too!

We were moving and wanted to deal with a company we could trust to do our large project. We called credible builders and renovators in Ottawa and interviewed 3 finalists. We received a consumer's guide booklet from OakWood which was very helpful in assisting us with the questions we asked all the builders. We checked the BBB, Renomark, other awards and accreditations and actually researched their finances, which was one recommendation we appreciated from the OakWood consumer's guide. We were shocked when we saw all the debt most of these builders and renovators had and it made us think about our risk. Many didn't have the answers or simply dismissed our questions as not important because they did not have proper insurance and workplace safety paperwork and tried to focus on their so called good price. When it came right down to it, most builders low-balled their price to try to get the job and then simply wanted to charge us extras for everything. OakWood was not the cheapest price, but they were totally upfront with pricing and very detailed with their paperwork and we appreciated that. When we really looked closely at what they all had to offer, OakWood stood out well above the rest, as the only builder to have it all. This was confirmed when we went through the design, material selection, and then the construction process. They had a process for everything, and it was really nice to see that they were always working on my side. Even when something went a bit off track with one of the suppliers, they always had a backup plan and solved it right away. It really helped having the designers as part of the process because many issues were prevented with the design build system. OakWood had a schedule for the project and kept us informed with site meetings. Trent and Sharon were a dream to work with, the whole team was always there for us and always honest and trustworthy. The complete process was a pleasure and I would highly recommend OakWood for the design and building of any renovation or new home project. We will definitely use them again and recommend them to all of our friends and colleagues. Herb

From the first phone call, the first meeting, I felt very comfortable, and I belive that I understood the process, we were about to under go. All the permits, fees, etc. were explained, the timelines, basically, what to expect. We were able to have what we wanted, and have it arranged before,plans had to be changed..We are far from finished yet, will update. So far, SO GOOD.
