A number of years ago we asked Bill to do some work on our fireplace - since then he has done a variety of jobs for us. Each one has been of excellent quality. Bill knows what he is talking about in home renovations!
He is very thorough, very honest, and very attentive throughout the entire projects. His guys arrive on time, clean up as they proceed through a job, and the quality of their work is excellent.
We will continue to recommend Fairney and sons to anyone who asks us.

Five years ago we had Bill Fairney come in and rescue us after a disastrous encounter with a bad contractor who has been convicted of 5 charges through Ministry of Consumer Services and has been assessed $36,000.00 in damages. Our insurance company covered 2/3 of the costs and Bill and his team did such a fine job in completing the paid for unfinished work, we had his team return to re-shingle the roof and repair some water damage in the ceiling that was not part of our original claim. He is personable, thorough and civic minded, and we recommend him to our neighbors and
friends!

Hadn't work with Bill before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very impressed with a number of things. #1 - Communication. Bill provides constant updates on progress and any issues. #2 - Timing. Started on time and finished on time. #3 - Client Input. Work would not progress if there was input required from myself vs the contractor making decisions I would regret. #4 - Value for money. I found Bill's pricing fair and reasonable. Extras I added were reasonably charged.
I have now recommended Bill to a number of friends and will continue to do so.

A little long but here goes: After almost a year of searching & interviewing contractors, I had almost given up until I noticed a Fairney and Sons Flyer sent to my home and thought, what’s one more call? - it’s already the end of the season (fall 2014) and I have nothing to lose. Bill and his crew (in our case) of two, Mike aka “the cowboy” and Shane was our saving grace! After meeting with different contractors who talked out of both sides of their mouths and quoting me ridiculous amounts, Bill was a breath of fresh air! We were instantly comfortable with him from the get-go. He came in and assessed our 106 year old home and was brutally honest in terms of the scope of work that would be required on such an older home and what it would cost, no “humming and hawing” and more importantly, no double-talk like the other contractors I’d met. His crew got to work on our home as promised in the spring of 2015. As one can imagine with any 100+ year old home, there were underlying issues once we starting poking holes, for example a large amount of wood rot & foundation issues, far more extensive and serious than anticipated or expected. Bill assessed the extra work and came back with a fair and reasonable increase to the original budget. Due to the unforeseen extra work, the job ended up taking a little longer to complete than originally estimated but Bill assured us that the fellas would not leave us hanging. They stayed until all the work was completed as promised. New foundation had to be poured before any parging and sealing could be completed, this had to be done very methodically in sections – Mike was phenomenal, the man knows and loves his trade and Shane is just a master of all trades! They cleaned up every single night before leaving, there were no issues with either of our neighbours complaining (and we live but a mere few feet apart!). Very lucky to have had these two working on securing our home from what could have been a potentially serious foundation issue had we left it any longer..thanks guys you rock and we miss having you around! On to our siding, once Mike and Shane were done with the foundation work Bill had his siding guys (Nash and his boys) start on stripping the entire exterior of our house of the old material. More wood rot further up was found and they took care of fixing and replacing all the 2x4’s and boarded it up. We ended up doubling up on the insulation because on top of the inch they added, we had decided on a higher grade insulated vinyl siding, the final result is absolutely beautiful. Nash also added all new soffit and fascia, brand new eaves troughs and downspouts. Bill also threw in a few extras at no extra charge:) Once all the siding was finished Mike came back to finish off the parging and the brand a new walkway. End result a safe, secure and warm home that looks spectacular!!
Folks, Bill is a man of integrity, which I have come to realize is sadly lacking in many in this industry, he is a man of his word and his hand-shake, he is definitely old school in that respect. I don’t know what else I can say other than I highly recommend Bill and his crew, they are simply the best. Bill, Mike, Shane: Mama and Pops say come on by anytime the kitchen is always open, albeit a little sloped lol…at least until the spring/summer 2016 when we hope to have you guys back again to straighten that out for us! ;-) A very big thank you Bill and crew:)

Last year we hired Fairney & Sons to replace the finished area of our basement floor. They took out the entire concrete floor and a lot of the mould that had built up under it from natural heaving and cracking, then put in a layer of stones and a new 4" concrete floor. They did this all in less than 2 weeks. Their attention to detail was superb. They totally cleaned up every day, and the professionalism of their people was outstanding.
So when we decided to re-do the large bathroom in the basement we naturally called them.
Again, great service, outstanding builder and tile people. They built a new shower, did all the plumbing, tiled the floor and the shower and installed everything. They even painted the whole room. I literally had nothing to do except buy all the stuff they needed to work with, and even then, they recommended a tile place that sold me very high quality tiles at prices less than the big box stores.
Our experience with Fairney and Sons was terrific. The are extremely affordable, totally professional, experienced and, best, of all good people who really care about making sure that they are getting the job done right.
I would strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking to do anything around their house. My faith in their collective skills is absolute.

These guys are the absolute best. Experienced expert contractors at a reasonable price. No cost overruns, timely, no half finished projects, and guaranteed work. So hard to find good contractors but these guys are it for my money in Toronto.

Bill came out to investigate a leaking basement, determined the cause to be the lack of waterproofing on one wall (the others had been done) and provided a clear, written quote. He went on to describe the detailed description of the work.
The crew was great. Timely, courteous and tidy. They left the site secure and completely clean at the end of each day.
Highly recommended.

I approached bill after seeing his signs up in the neighbourhood. He promptly came out to look at our basement water issue and developed a plan to take care if. His team was skilled and hard worker, the performed extra repair work to our foundation at very reasonable rates. Overall very satisfied with work and Bills service.
