Burl Oak Landscaping

Our landscaping project involved interlocking of an extended front porch, side walkway, driveway borders, backyard patio, a concrete pad for a shed, and flower beds. We searched for a landscaping company largely by the Internet and, after looking at many providers, we zeroed in on Burl-Oak Landscaping. Based on the combination of amazing website photos and very positive reviews, we decided to set up a meeting. The process began with Mark visiting our home. He was very personable and attentive, and offered insightful suggestions that spoke to our taste and needs. We decided to hire the company.

When the work began, the construction crew led by Lou’ay arrived as scheduled and they immediately got to work in the very hot summer heat. And within two days we could see things coming to life, and amazingly three days later the job was completed. Finally, the outside of our home had the look and impact we were looking for. In short, the Interlocking looked beautiful and just like we envisioned and hoped it would be. Beside our total satisfaction with the high quality material and work Burl-Oak did to our property we will add that: the company demonstrated complete professionalism, offered competitive pricing, and the project manager, Mike, was great to work with; he ensured that the project got completed in a timely manner and to our specification, and that everything was cleaned up before they left. Additionally, Lou’ay provided us with helpful landscaping tips for our flower beds, which were added to the project at a reasonable cost. After the project was fully completed, he came back to visit and did a final inspection, and at that time we asked for a minor correction, which he gladly agreed to and completed. As a result of our highly positive experience working with Burl-Oak and crew, we are happy to recommend them to our circle of friends and beyond.

Mark was nice and friendly to deal with. He understood our need for the front steps to be wide so that my mom can walk up independently with her walker. The quote was reasonable/competitive with other contractors. We booked mid summer, understanding that we would have a date in September. However, they were able to accommodate an earlier installation date in mid-August. We were pleased to know this! A large crew came and completed the job in 2 days. They worked professionally and left each day with all debris removed. After the first day, we consulted wrb Lou'ay and Mark about some minor changes we wanted, and they responded and completed the job to our satisfaction. We have one very minor spot to patch and Lou'ay said that someone would come by to do that next week. We love the new patio and front steps, and my Mom is so appreciative of it too!

Estimate and scope of work was clearly identified. New patio, sodding and two roughed in garden beds were done. Work crew worked professionally completing work within two days.
Follow up visit occurred with in three days of completion. Work reviewed and warranty discussed. We were very pleased with the work which may result in the front yard and stone work being done in the near future.

The landscape supply company also had good things to say about Burl-Oak when we visited for samples.
All emails and questions were always answered quickly and they were very flexible and patient as we made changes along the way.
They cleaned the entire site when leaving.
And....The final result looks amazing!

We went with Burl-Oak based on the reviews here and do not regret hiring them. Mind you, we also contacted 6 other companies but felt confident that Burl-Oak would carry out the job well, based on the customer service and expectations we had since we first contacted the company. Mark was very reachable and understanding in what we wanted/needed, and provided recommendations which best suited our patio. Everything was handled professionally by him, Michael (foreman) and the crew on duty.

The work took 2 days and we were impressed in how fast it was done. Nothing looked "rushed", the quality is definitely there. Of course there were concerns, however, Mark and Michael handled any concerns we had professionally and within a respectable timeframe. We recommend Burl-Oak.

Came when expected. Took only 4 hrs to remove old driveway and replace with a new one. The finished product looks very good. There was a small blemish that later appeared but this has now been re-done. I am fully satisfied.

We hired this company and meet with Mark. I would not hire this company, they are one of those fly by nights that it does not matter if you have contract they do not honor them. We have a meeting with Mark and Louay the owner to fixed what evert he things they needed to be done they even shook my husband hands but that does not matter once they get paid in full they were gone. A company that we thought was good turned out to be a very dissapointing one. I could tell you guys a story 10 pages long but i have attached pictures and you guys decide its your investment and property that could be destroyed. During the meeting we told Louay they are the professional and they do this for a living and we are not and we know that the quality was not good and he got aupset for he thinks we are insulting him and degrading him.
Heres the highlights of the contract not meet
1. 2 feet runner on the front driveway onlyone feet got charged for it but did not give refund
2. 3 steps on the side only one done charged for it but did not get refunded.
3. Inter lock stone on the front instead planted my tree s suggested by Louay for he think its better to have a garden no refund.
4. Front not properly finish and balanced.

The wall built in the front already leaning outwards
The backyard wall is already falling.

His staff were goofing around that they hit my back walls it was so loud that they cracked my foundation. They hit the front steps. We have basement leaks. We have to claim on our insurance because of the damage this company done to our house.

One year later the wall is already leaning, my insurance increased because of the claim and no warranty honoured. I will post the pictures..you guys can decide.. after he shooked my husband's hands and said he will come back the next day he sent an email saying we owe him $170. For the fee on the front that his sales guys screwed up in measuring in the first place. He was so concerned about that, but he wasnt concerned of the certain linear feet and steps he charged us that he did not install. All i can say is people beware.

I have recently completed a large landscaping project with Burl-oak landscaping which I had saved for some time. I was nervous to start the project since it was a large expenditure, but Mark made excellent recommendations to get the look I wanted with a balanced budget. Mark has been extremely reachable and provided excellent customer service before and during the project; and throughout the project Mark showed up on the job until it was virtually completed; I appreciated his time very much as he also meets with customers for new projects.

Louay is a driven individual that is well experienced. As the project progressed, Louay lead his agile team to make things work out fast despite some surprises when they excavated. This required changes in the material, for which Louay made excellent recommendations. Also, they were very careful to protect tree roots. Though every individual showed care about their work, I got the sense that they were in a rush. During the project, I noticed certain things; I provided input which I think was taken seriously only when I persisted on it. The site was not as clean as I had hoped after the project completed with small and larger gravel stones on the lawn. I recommend that all arrangements be explicitly written in the contract for best outcome for buyer and seller and not rely on any verbal agreements to avoid misunderstandings. Though we had some misunderstanding, Louay came on the last day to make sure any concerns that I had were addressed to my satisfaction.

The finished product looks great and I hope it will be for years to come; neighbors are complementing it already and are amazed at the speed it was done. Thank you Burl-oak team and best of success in future projects.
