Ecowest Renovations-No Longer in Business

We contracted EcoWest to complete a variety of exterior upgrades. This included installing and painting new matching wood lap siding on 2 sides of the house, paint install all new fascia, new vinyl soffits all round, and new gutters.
We were asked to pay 45% of the total up front. That is very much over what the recommended amount is. But we agreed. Two months after signing and paying our deposit the work finally started.
The new soffits involved removing all of the old wood soffitting and installing new perforated vinyl soffitting. After the job was said to be complete, while we were having new attic insulation installed, it was discovered that the soffit subcontractor (Chris) had in fact not removed all the old wood soffits. Instead for two sides of the house he just installed the new vinyl over top of the remaining old wood. When we challenged Ecowest at an in-person meeting, the Ecowest co-owner (Greg) said that the subcontractor would fix this. We were told it would happen on Saturday Dec 14th. The day the sub was to do the work he no-showed. We contacted Ecowest later that day to ask what was going to be done. Finally on Dec 23rd the sub showed up on 1 hr notice. He left, and left someone else, I assume from his company, to complete the work.
The vinyl soffits were pulled down and revealed that almost all of the original wood soffits on the two long upper sides had been left up and just covered over against our explicit instructions, and the subs final attempt to say it was all OK.
We had other issues during this contractor involving pressure to pay installments in advance of those specified in our Scope of Work document, and work progress status statements made by the sales person (Joe) that we feel were misleading at least, and likely outright fabrications.
This was a very unpleasant experience for what should have been a simple exterior upgrade. I would not ever trust this company again.

We conctacted Ecowest as they were an accredited BBB business. Our plan was to replace 2 external doors and possible some windows. From the start, we clearly stated we can not afford a complete home windows and doors replacement. Upon on the home estimate, it was obvious the rep only wanted to sell us the entire home windows and doors replacement package. We opted only 2 doors replacement with a request for a formal quote on the cost to replace all windows over 2 timeframes. Also with the timeline when the doors will arrive for installation, we told the representative we would be away during the vacation and was wondering if we can expedite this order prior to our vacation. Ecowest took our payment for the door, never responded with the windows quote, and didn't bother contacting us regarding the vacation request. They contacted us for door installation 2 weeks after our 2 weeks vacation for door installation. Additionaly, upon in the installation, there were 2 deficiencies. When we finally was able to talk to the individual who will repair the deficiencies, he told us he hurt his back in another job and would not be able to schedule a repair till the next week. Ironic that if a person is hurt on a job, everything needs to be stalled upon his return. This company has only shown they can not provide good customer service unless you have you pay big dollar up front. The products are good quality.

We would recommend ecowest to our friends and family. Matt Wade came to our house to assess our leaking slider. He was knowledgeable and professional. Taking the time to show us details about our home construction. He gave us options and solutions for resolving our leaking slider. We feel that we were able to make a good decision based on his help!

We hired Ecowest to come and install new soffits. Joe came out and was very friendly and helpfull. We signed the agreement on Aug 22. Our Mastercard was billed for the deposit right away. Joe told me it would be about 6-8 weeks cause they were really busy. Around the middle of Sept I started calling to see for an approximate date. No one called back. During the next 3-4 weeks, I called many times with no one responding to my call. Finally I called October 11 wanting to cancel my order and within 10 minutes Joe called. The scheduler called and finally gave me a date. He said he called all the last week, but it wasn't our number. They contracted out the job. It was done well, but there were a few problems. When the workers left, there was screws and metal all over the driveway that I had to clean up. The workers broke $15.00 worth of my kids Halloween decorations. Also they were told not to have any nuts on the site due to severe peanut/nut allergies. I found Oh Henry bars all over the yard. Ecowest called right away to collect the rest of the money. I was not home but phoned the office the next day. I let the office staff know about the 3 concerns I had and that she would let Joe know and then she took my payment. It's been over a week and have not heard anything from them. I will not be using this company again. Neither will I tell others about them.

I read about Ecowest on HomeStars, and was little skeptical in the beginning, but decided to give them a call because of the good reviews. Joe Miletic from Ecowest returned our call the next day. He was prompted in responding to our questions and was a pleasure to deal with the entire time. The quote on our attic insulation was reasonable. Two crew members came. They were on time, pleasant, efficient and completed the job mess free. Joe followed up on the work and we were very happy with the entire experience. Six months later, we decided to change the windows at another place and called Joe. Again the quote was very reasonable. This time there were about 5 member crew on the job and they were having lunch when we went to check on the job. They gave us a time when to expect all the windows done and when I returned, the windows look great and the area was all cleaned up! Joe and his crew are very efficient and they are fantastic! The Ecowest staff are amazing bunch of people from the office to the site crew! We are very happy with them and would definitely refer them to anybody looking for a honest and professional company. We are already thinking of our next renovation and will definitely be calling Joe at Ecowest again!

We had Ecowest replace 12 windows and a skylight as well as install a new patio door system for our 24 year old house. We are extremely pleased with how the installation and renovations went with Ecowest! We received 4 detailed quotes from 4 different local window companies and Ecowest’s quote was very fair and reasonable.

Our window replacements were not typical because two of them involved increasing the original window widths by 2 additional feet and another involved increasing the height by 1 foot. These modifications required significant changes to the original structural framing supports as well as to the window headers. After the drywall was removed it turned out that a plumbing pipe was in the way of where a framing support had to be moved to.....it was a tight fit, but Ecowest promptly brought in one of their plumbers and had the pipe moved. Also, the cut-out in the ceiling that was required to move the pipe was expertly repaired and refinished by one of Ecowest’s drywallers.

When we moved into our house 7 years ago we had an old bathroom skylight that was not properly sealed and installed and seemed to always have condensation on the glass surface. We have had several carpenters and roofers come take a look at it over the past few years and no one seemed to have a reasonable, cost-effective solution. Ecowest brought in Peter specifically to work on our skylight. He reframed and raised the support for the skylight, put in a new skylight, and re-shingled the roof where he did the repairs. Our bathroom is now warm and free of drafts as well having a beautiful new condensation-free skylight.

Perhaps the biggest change Ecowest did for us was replacing our old kitchen door with a 10-foot Westeck Lift and Slide patio door. This required the complete removal of our old kitchen door, an old kitchen window, and the complete removal of one of our kitchen walls. Ecowest also brought in one of their electricians to move our old electrical outlets and light switches and also to install new pot lights outside on our patio. Ten people showed up the day the Lift and Slide patio door was installed to work on this, and both Moe’s and Jeff’s window crews took great care to ensure that the entire process went quickly and smoothly with outstanding results! Each and every one of Ecowest’s staff, from the owner Aaron all the way through to every one of the window install crew, were exceptionally polite, personable, and a pleasure to deal with.

We are enjoying the new modern look to our house, greater insulation from the outside temperatures and noise, and also the increased natural light from the 10-foot Lift and Slide patio door. Thank you Aaron, Matt, Joe, Moe, Jeff, John, and the rest of the Ecowest staff for your meticulous and expert work on our house. We look forward to working with you again in the future!
