Confusing and poor HVAC inspection and fan coils

My experience with Canyon Plumbing from the HVAC side is pretty disappointing. I had them do an inspection of my house when I was in the process of purchasing it. They told me everything worked fine. During the inspection I asked them a few questions and they didn’t seem too confident in their knowledge. And then a couple weeks later I’m guessing they contacted me realtor who apparently was told there was an issue with the control board needed to be replaced. Canyon and my realtor offered to cover the cost and I okayed it. Originally I thought the issue was reported by the previous owner, who apparently was just as much in the dark as I was. But further reading the email chains apparently it was Canyon who reported an issue and said it was missed during inspection.

A few weeks later they finally made an appointment to come replace the part. The technician didn’t know what was wrong with the original one, wasn’t sure which one to replace (I have two), couldn’t contact the original inspector for more information, and apparently couldn’t access the notes. He replaced the control board based on the serial number that was assigned but apparently it wasn’t working with the boiler (my main heating system). He couldn’t figure out what was wrong and just told me he needed to leave for another job and will figure it out later. He didn’t make an appointment or any general idea on when he would return.

Aside from that, I also reached out to Canyon for a quote on installing an AC system. The estimator came and was very knowledgeable. He said he would get the quote early next week at the latest. However, he never followed through despite my numerous attempts to contact him.

Made it Worse

There is a reason that they only rate 49% on Homestars! Do your homework, go elsewhere. They arrived to repair a relatively minor problem and left us in dire straits without water in the home. They actually had the audacity to tell us to start searching for parts to fix the problem they created. Never again!!

Their work scared my other plumbers

These folks installed some plumbing in my basement. It didn’t look right to my untrained eye. I called a reputable plumbing company. They were horrified at the work. Since that day, future plumbers have questioned the sanity of the original plumber.

Where's the UNLEAKY faucet???

Canyon Plumbing was contracted by ReidBuilt to install taps in our 2015 Chestermere home. The work was well done as, as far as we could assess, not being in the construction business ourselves. A few months in, we noted that our kitchen tap was leaking and ReidBuilt made arrangements to have Canyon Plumbing come to do a series of maintenance calls where the cartridges were replaced (on at least 3 occasions). We were told, at the time, that contacting the tap manufacturer (Kohler), would be not be an option as the first round of reparation is typically cartridge changes. Unfortunately, the cartridge change did not improve the leaking. ReidBuilt again contacted Canyon Plumbing who came out and reinstalled a new tap - the exact model that we were having trouble with previously. I was a little hesitant as by this point I was not trusting the tap model to stand up to the job. To summarize, even with a newly installed tap, leaking continued to be an issue. Now that ReidBuilt is not accessible, we attempted to go through Canyon Plumbing ourselves directly to solve this issue. They sent a diagnostician to assist us who phoned Kohler to determine from their end what they would offer us as we never had a tap that worked properly since 2015. Kohler provided us with a guarantee of instore/online credit to purchase a new tap. Trouble is Canyon Plumbing believes it is up to us to shell out the fee of having a plumbing tech come buy and replace the new tap once it arrives. I believe they were paid by ReidBuilt to contract a job and that was to ensure that what we needed, as customers, to OMG expect a working tap and they are failing to live up to their end of the bargain. It's unfortunate that ReidBuilt had to close shop - but Canyon Plumbing, have some honour and respect for your company - you wouldn't exist without your customer base. And, no I am not typically someone who spends oodles of time complaining about services. In fact, I must write 100 good to one not so favorable. It's unfortunate that reputation means so little out in these parts of Canada. One bad review would roast businesses out east who bend over backwards to focus on what ought to be a businesses' entire bread and butter - their REPUTATION. Stand tall and be men!

Replace Poly B in home

We contracted Canyon Plumbing to remove the Poly B piping from our home and replace it with Pex. They gave us a fixed price quote. They showed up on time, worked longer hours when necessary so we would have water at night and did a very professional job. The most important thing was that they cut a minimum of holes to access the old piping connections. They had some unexpected difficulties but solved the problems and never once asked for extra funds. Clean up was a little slack but the job was well worth the price.

Bad tradespeople, poor customer service, decent products

Hired Canyon for a new home build. They were contracted to do all rough-ins and actual installation. We had problems from the get-go. It is luck of the draw with who your site supervisor will be. Originally we had Ryan, who no longer works for them, but he was a nightmare. We then had Trevor, who was awesome and fixed many of Ryan's problems. Nevertheless, the basis for recommendations and how the installs were done happened at the beginning and we received poor advice and poor decisions. For instance, we were never asked about hot water re-circulation, so now we are one of those homes that takes 5 minutes to receive hot water in the upstairs shower. That's not something you can fix after the fact. We've had issues with toilets not flushing properly, leaks in sink plumbing, etc. Customer service is not fast, efficient, or very friendly either. Product choice in the showroom is decent. Overall, it was frustrating to work with Canyon and they did very little to make this an even tolerable experience with them, and for a trade that will take a long time from start to finish when building a home, and a huge chunk of cash, it's not a decision you should take lightly. In the end, we have poor design and installation of our plumbing fixtures and for that I would not hire them again, nor recommend.

UNDER SLAB FLOOR HEATING SYSTEM

Canyon Plumbing installed the plumbing & heating in our retirement home almost 30 years ago. They also plumbed our previous home 10 years previous to that. Simply can't say enough in praise of their years of faithful service. Many thanks to Tom & Mike who today flushed our under slab boiler & thus extending the life of the system even though we were prepared to replace related components should they had chosen to recommend the more costly option. Thanks guy's for your honesty & dedication over the years.

Hot water tank

Hot water tank ruptured. Live close to Canyon plumbing, knew they do New Homes and have decent reputation with builders but wasn't sure about replacing old tank. Web site had great deal on new tanks installed, called, had new tank installed same day. Dean installed it, professional, courteous, and had new water tank completely installed and running in less that 4 hours from the call.
Very satisfied at this point. No angry teenagers crying about the shower. Thanks Canyon Meadows.

Terrible Customer Service- No after sale service

I am looking for under mount sink water filter replacement cartridge, the original was purchased from Canyon plumbing. I talked twice with parts department they took all information and told me they will call me back with all information but no one bother to call back.
most of the time parts department do not answer call.

Noise pipes New home

Noisy pipes that they refused to fix under warranty. Multiple visits with mild adjustment making situation worse. During the warranty period they delayed and delayed service until the very end of the coverage period, No solution. Terrible service. They come to your house but don't fix anything.
