Incredible windows

The windows are the most beautiful windows I have ever had. Without the screen blocking the view and the black out blinds you just cant go wrong. The installers were knowledgeable and very quick.

A Real Home Star!

Our experience with Magic Windows product and service has been excellent. We expected an outstanding product and that’s what we got, along with skilled and highly professional installers and a fast turnaround between sale and installation. But what we didn’t expect was the exemplary customer service, responsiveness and sense of urgency when it came time to fix a problem. That’s where so many companies fail. This is a company that stands by its word and its products. Everyone we dealt with, from sales, to service, to installation, including the owner, were committed to making sure we were totally satisfied. We highly recommend that anyone in the market for high quality windows, check them before making a final decision. Simply put, they are not like the others.

King City Project: Large Accordion Door

Since design at the beginning their customer service was amazing. They were on time and their installers are polite, clean, and professional. Definitely looking forward to working together in the future.

Workmanship was horrible

On July 23, 2019 myself and my spouse signed a contract with Magic Window Innovations to install a sliding patio door in our back room. As per the contract notes, the agreement included ‘full frame installation’ and solar screens.

The single day installation was completed on September 23, 2019 by two installers. We were not satisfied with the quality of the workmanship and immediately notified our sale representative. To summarize, we were unable to close the sliding door and to lock it; the locking pins to both the main lock and floor lock were misaligned; and pieces of the oak flooring surrounding the air vent were missing. We also discovered that the installers did not remove the construction debris along the sliding track which could have also contributed to the door misalignment and that our air vent was full of construction debris as it was not properly sealed during the wall removal. Overall, we were very disappointed in the lack of accountability from the two installers even when we asked them about the missing oak flooring around the air vent. Their immediate reply was that it was already missing.

The next day, Saul (no last name was provided) came to our house to inspect the work. We expressed serious concerns that there was no framing to the area above the patio doors between the roof. We showed Saul a series of photos which documented the installation process. The only framing between the intstalled patio doors and the roof comprised of three 3 ½” wide x 1/2” thick MDF baseboard slats glued together with spray foam. The remainder of the space between patio door and the roof was filled in with spray foam. Saul assured us that this is how it is done and guided the conversation to assure that the door was properly insulated. He agreed that the door required adjustment and arranged to have the service technician come to correct the issues. At this point Saul asked for full payment of the installation, which I obliged even though we did not receive an actual invoice.

On October 4, 2019, the service technician named Cuong came to our house. He was patient with us and listened to all of our concerns. He was able to aligned door and both locking pins. He also removed the door completely so that we could properly vacuum out the debris along the track. We received instructions on how to operate the solar screens which no body prior to Cuong’s visit provided. We were also given a can of silicone spray and written instructions on the operation and care of the sliding door plus our invoice. It would have been nice if this was provided upon the completed installation and not two weeks later. We were also given back 2 of the original missing oak flooring pieces; however we are still missing 3 pieces to our vent. Cuong displayed true professionalism and was sincere in his approach when dealing with us. He was however unable to address our still lingering concerns with the questionable structural framing.

After consulting with two architects and a structural engineer our suspicions were correct. Although we did not have the proper terminology, it seemed that any professional we approached immediately understood that the installation was done without adding a proper LINTEL which thereby compromised the structural integrity of our roof.

We have sent Magic Window our comments along with a letter from an architect which identified the deficiencies of the installation and the subsequent building code violations. We never received any response from Magic Window.

We choose to use Magic Windows because of their superior product. However, the poor quality of the workmanship and the dishonest conduct we received by discounting our concerns, completely diminishes the integrity of this company.

Master bedroom window replacement

I arranged for a price quotations at the Woman's Show. I met with that week and decided to go with Magic Window for the master bedroom. Both setting up the installation date and actual work was quick, timely and tidy. I am already reaping the benefits of a reduced heating bill.

Window Installations

We hired Magic Windows for a second job after being so happy with the first job we hired them for. They were just like the first time, courteous, professional and did a great job while respecting our home and property. We are so pleased with the work they did and the quality of the windows we have. Our home is noticeably warmer this winter even with the lower thermostat setting. Thank you to everyone who worked on our home project. We have had bad contractors in the past and as such always nervous when hiring someone new. Magic windows staff put us at ease and gained our confidence. Thank you.

Iffy workmanship

Disclaimer: Magic Windows offers $50 for a positive review (I did not accept.)

Magic Windows are decent quality and have good features. They operate well, and the built in retractable screen and blinds are handy. Installers were friendly and did a good job.

Our main complaint is with the grilles. Magic Windows charges a lot for grilles ($36 per square, which adds up fast), but the workmanship on them is poor. There's a lot of glue and residue on the glass, which I hope to be able to clean off eventually. The sealant they apply at the joints is quite messy (see pictures), and the grille lines don't always line up well. The overall effect is messy and amateurish, which isn't great given the cost.

If you want the retractable screen and don't want grilles, Magic Windows is a good choice. If you want grilles, look elsewhere.

Company Response

Hi,

My name is Lior Goldenberg and I'm the Director of Customer Experience at Magic Window Innovations. Firstly, thank you for the review - it's important to us that consumers read honest experiences about our company. The grilles you're referring to are called SDL's (simulated divided lites) and are meant replicate the look of traditional window design. You're definitely right - the workmanship on them is not to our standards. The good news is that we can remove the exterior and interior grilles and re-install them on site! I wish you would have given us a call as soon as these windows were installed so that we could have fixed this for you. We would have gladly done so by now but you never reached out to less us know you were unsatisfied. Judging by the colour of the trees and foliage in these photos, it seems as though these windows were installed earlier this fall. I've searched our installation list for projects with SDL's but the list is simply too large to narrow down to one consumer. I also can't pull up your file because you haven't provided your real name in this review. Can you please send me your info to lior@magicwindow.ca or call me directly at 905-856-8805? I'd love to send our grilles design specialist to your home so that he can fix them for you.

Also, we offer $50 dollars as a token of gratitude for our consumers time. We know how busy our clients are, so if they've taken the time to write a Homestars or Google review about us then the least we can do is offer them a small gift.

Cheers,

Lior Goldenberg

Window replacement

We had Magic Windows replace 16 windows. Their installation team was courteous and completed the work well. The windows look fabulous and we especially love the retractable screens and push out features.
