Parging

We needed to replace the old parging on our home. We live in an older home so it presented some challenges, mostly due to the size of the job, the height the current parge line and the age of the brick. After the work was completed we had a couple of complaints:

1. Cost. After the old parging was removed we were told the deterioration of the brick was more than anticipated. The end cost was higher than the estimate. 2. Unclear expectations. The old/existing parge on our home was uneven and un-level. We assumed the new parging would be level and smooth like our neighbour’s home, but it was not much different from the original. It was not clearly conveyed to us what the end result would look like. 3. Follow-up. Red Robin did not follow up with us after the work was completed to ensure everything was completed to our satisfaction.
After our concerns were made known, Dave Bissinger, the owner of Red Robin, contacted us to make sure Red Robin completed the work to our satisfaction. Dave has been very responsive and came to our home twice and sent a crew back to our home to address our concerns. I believe Red Robin strives to provide a very high level of customer service and I am satisfied with the outcome.

Basement tile

I was getting quotes to have tile put down on my basement floor. Two out of the four tile guys I had met with made mention that a portion of the floor was too uneven and it needed to be addressed. Red Robin was the first company I called and John came over the next day. John was pleasant. He was able to answer all of my questions (which were a lot) and he had a quote emailed to me by the day’s end. After receiving a few
other quotes I decided to go ahead with Red Robin despite the fact that they were the most expensive. I think it was when they called me approx. a week later to see if I had any questions. They seemed to really be on top of things. If there was one thing to critique it was that they pushed the start time of the job back one day. However, they did call two days prior to arrange the schedule change (That’s just me trying to nit-pick). It was hard for me to determine how well the job was done personally but my tile guy assured that the guys did an excellent job.

Stone Fireplace

We bought our house last winter with the intent of doing a few
renovations. One of which was the fireplace in the basement that was built with this god awful brick that drove my husband and I crazy. We hired Red Robin after they had been recommended by my brother in law. Mike worked with me to find the right stone for both the face and the mantle. They were on time and professional. Not to mention the fireplace looks great. Thank you Red Robin for the GREAT JOB!

Leaking chimney

The weather warmed up for a few days which lead to a lot of melted snow. With the melt we had water coming into our fireplace from our chimney. John climbed on our roof and spotted a crack on top of the chimney. A few hours later someone was sent over to fix the crack. It’s hard for us to see the work that was done but it’s nice to see that everything was left clean.

Window openings

My husband and I decided to re-do our basement. We decided to completely remodel and rearrange the entire floor. Our new plan involved making new window openings and infilling a few openings. We were happy that we spoke with John before we ordered our windows. Our designer originally had us ordering windows that would have gone against code. John explained that a basement window should be 6 inches above ground on the outside of the house for snow. John was the only contractor to point that out and that was what impressed me the most. The crew performed the work under a small tent that they created that were kept warm by heaters. The window openings looked clean and straight. The window installers told me that there were no problems. It was a pleasure to work with the guys at red robin.

Brick Restoration 100 year old home & tuck pointing

David Bissinger addressed a request for a quote to repair the disintegrated bricks and tuck-point our 100-year-old house promptly. Although we had to wait a bit for the work to commence, due to unforeseen schedule delays.
When the workers arrived they set up quickly, quietly and protected the neighbour’s property where they were accessing the project.
They worked swiftly and professionally, competing the job in the estimated time frame. Joe did a flawless job of matching the existing mortar colour so the repaired areas are completely unnoticeable. And they cleaned up well!
I would definitely have them back for future masonry work.

Chimney Repair - replacement of bricks

I had some water damage to my chimney and called in Red Robin for a quote. John came by and gave me a detailed discription of the needed work as well as possible contingencies in case they found any additional problems once the chimney was opened up. I was impressed with John and did not seek any other quotes. Two Red Robin workers came to my house at the agreed upon time and quickly and professionally completed the job with no additional input from me. I couldn't be happier with the work, I would recommend Red Robin to anyone who needs this kind of work completed.

Parging and Brick replacement

called for a quote from Red Robin after reading previous reviews (Homestars is my first stop always to find these services). John was quick with a quote and even left a sample brick for those being replaced. Once I confirmed that they could start work, the work was completed on time (weather permitting) and to the standards that i expected - they really did an excellent job. On top of that there was consistent communications for issues/questions that came up during the short work period, but the crew never proceeded before consulting with me first whcih was nice. When the job was completed I couldn't even tell (other than the new bricks) that a work crew had been on my property as everything was cleaned up and put back in its place. Overall an excellent job and i would definitely use again or recommend to someone else looking for this work. Thanks John, david and the rest of the crew.
