Waterworks was one of two quotes we sought for installation of a tankless water heater. Although they have a predetermined price sheet for their jobs - a feature I appreciate, based on a previous job they did for us - they dropped to meet the competing quote, which was about 2/3d their listed price. Unfortunately, the original plan for the placement of the water heater was not possible due to the air intake/exhaust pipe placements and the job appears to have been more complicated than was initially thought. In the end, the job was completed without an air intake pipe, the necessity of which appears to be a point of debate. The installation was professionally done and Alex & Mike were thorough. I am satisfied with the work that was completed. Due to the initial incorrect spec of the job and the lack of an air intake pipe as part of the work, I would be unlikely to recommend Waterworks and would only use them again if I had competing quotes for the project.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $3,900.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- This job appears to have been sufficiently below what they would normally charge that they probably should have walked away from it. I think, in hindsight, I would have been happier. Instead, I didn't get quite what I expected for the amount agreed on.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Be clear about what is involved in a tankless water heater install. The need for larger water pipes, for both intake and exhaust vents, for example. Our water heater manufacturer thought an intake pipe was necessary; the installer did as well, but in the end, a second opinion led to it being an extra cost. I would have been happier with the result if I had understood better what was and wasn't being included.
- Company Response
Hi Mr. Whelan, thank you for the opportunity for letting us install your tankless water heater. The only problem with this installation is when a customer supplies their own products there can be many missing components like isolation valves, concentric air intakes, and other hardware. We do our best to accommodate every customer who does supply their own equipment and materials, but many times components are missing from their delivery. The best situation is when we supply the equipment and installation. This way all of the "bits and pieces" come included as a package, so there is no need to worry about missing materials. We would be happy to serve you in the future should you need us. Thank you from The Waterworks Plumbing and Drains Inc and Team.
