West York Paving Ltd

Hired West York in July of 2014 and agreed they would place base material and return in fall to pave. While placing the base material the crew damage both my fence and stucco. I was told they dropped a large piece of old asphalt and that's what caused the damage. Was not home at the time and was never told about the damage, had to call Remo to ask what happened.

Remo assured my the damaged would be repaired within a few weeks. On the day we agreed upon, I took time off work to be there, no one showed up and did not even get a phone call, remo blamed his subcontractors. This happened several more times, finally someone came for the fence post and replaced the wrong post. After several more months someone came again, replaced the post and put it it crooked so that the fence no longer closes properly.

I made phone call after phone call to get this fixed and get my driveway paved, with no response. I finally contacted the BBB, within 1 day I got a call back. Then right before Christmas, Joe told me it would have to wait until spring because they we too busy. The only time I would ever hear back from them is when they were contacted by the BBB after one of my complaints.

Finally got asphalt down, but had to hold money until they fixed the stucco and fence. Its over a year later and they have still not tried to contact me to fix the damage they did. I finally had to give up and hire someone else.

Both Joe and Remo have the worst professionalism I have have encountered. Their lack of customer satisfaction is unbelievable and am surprised a company like this is still in business. Might also have something to do with paying cash with them, I would not advise that anyone hire this company and would encourage those who have experienced the same as myself from these guys to contact the BBB. Judging from some prior reviews there are others and probably plenty more who have not submitted a review on this website. Stay away from this company!!

Recently I asked York West Paving for an estimate to repave my driveway. The estimator arrived at the agreed time, prepared an estimate and explained it to me in great detail, answering all of my questions. The crew arrived on time and worked seamlessly applying the new asphalt. It was like watching a ballet. The crew were pleasant, worked quickly and left the site in a very tidy state. I am very pleased with the results.

I recently had our shared driveway re-paved by West York Paving.
I had contacted 4 of the “top rated” paving companies on Homestars and Joe Barone of West York was the only one to have the courtesy to respond.
He arrived as scheduled and fully explained what the job would entail and provided an acceptable quote. His crew removed the existing driveway and returned approx. 4 weeks later to re-apply the new asphalt etc. The crew were all very professional and friendly and seemed to take pride in their work. They were noticeably meticulous with how the edges abutting the garages, sidewalk, lawn etc were finished and did a pretty thorough clean-up.

My neighbour and I are very pleased with the entire procedure and would not hesitate to recommend West York Paving.

Contract date: May 15th, 2014. Address: 26 Garden Pl. consisting of 3 rental units. Request: pave back of the building to accommodate parking for 4 cars.
1.0 Negligence in changing grading, directing rain water drainage on the house from entire parking area.
2.0 Lack of professionalism in refusing to remedy this mistake even after verbal agreement to do so.

I was very impressed with Joe and the professionalism of the West York team. In a business that has a bad reputation for overcharging and shady practices, they stand out as honest, dependable professionals.

West York/ York West Paving are absolutely professional! From the lady answering the phones, to the workers completing the job. I've never written a review on anything, but we've all heard the stories ( had the experience ) of poor workmanship and no communications. Joe and the crew at West York Paving made this transaction as smooth as the new driveway. The quote was competitive for its size, everyone was very easy to talk with, services were on time, and they took great care and didn't hurry the job at all. I'm fortunate to be retired, and I was able to watch the process from stripping the old, to final clean up of the finished drive. They brought all the heavy duty equipment for a perfect result. All the machines and the trucks look very new with matching colour schemes. The whole company comes across as QUALITY. What a nice experience! If you need paving, these are the folks.

We called York west to widen our driveway as they have paved many driveways in our area. We were impressed by the calm and professional manner from Joe. He answered all our questions, even when I called him a couple of times to clarify some issues. In fact, we decided to re-pave and extend our driveway because we were having water issues in front of our garage. Upon explaining this to Joe, he said to tell the waterproofers to backfill the hole with clear rock to help with drainage. When we brought this to the attention of the person we hired to do the waterproofing, he was resistant and wanted to charge 4x the original price. So we went with someone else. So, Joe, knows his stuff, if it weren't for him, the hole would have been backfilled with the original sand, which is not the proper way. We also had pavers put along the side, and the workers were great. Our driveway looks awesome and won't hesitate to tell people, York West did our driveway. Thanks Joe.

Joe was very knowledgeable, and price was fair. The workers were real pros. The job was done on schedule with attention to detail including clean up. We got a lot compliments for the great looking driveway, and recommend West York Paving Ltd.
