Total Window and Patio Door Replacement

We have an older house and wanted to replace all the windows but we were worried about the size of the job -- we didn't know what we would discover when the windows came out. Would there be structural or barrier issues with the surrounding walls for example?

We wanted to work with a company that was expert in the field of windows, but that could recognize surrounding issues if they arose and deal with those issues effectively. We worried that a basic windows company might botch the work or worse, leave us with a hole in a wall and tell us to find a general contractor. We were concerned that a general contractor would not have the window-specific knowledge to do the best job.

At a family gathering, we found that two different households in our extended family had previously retained Long Life Windows & Doors Ltd. with excellent results. Those family reviews, plus the reviews on HomeStars.com encouraged us to contact Long Life.

We liked that Long Life had been around for a long time and that the members of its crews had worked together for a long time. We liked that Long Life had deep experience in the windows field and that its crew chiefs and some of its crew members had general contracting experience and in some cases general contracting businesses. We liked that Long Life could handle both the window work and the most probable surrounding issues and that for more improbable surrounding issues Long Life had long-term relationships with other experts who they could call in.

We engaged Long Life and were very pleased from start to finish. They were responsive and professional, completing the job to our satisfaction, on time, on budget and with minimal disturbance. Kris worked with us to scope the job we wanted and was available in person, by phone and by e-mail before, during and after the job. Bernard and his crew were a pleasure to work with, keeping us informed of issues and options as they arose and showing us with clear pride the details of construction that distinguished a superior installation from a basic one. Bernard even did some custom woodworking to ensure two new decorative windows matched the surrounding character of the house.

Long Life maintained our confidence throughout and we're very happy with both the quality and the value of the work.

Company Response

Hi Michael, I am a little late to respond to your review, I know you received my email but wanted to follow up on here as well. I drove by your place the other day as we are doing another job around the corner and can't believe the difference between when you started the renovation. Thank you for your business and I guess we have used all of your family ties now? I don't know of any other of your relatives houses we haven't done but if we haven't we would love to continue the family tree!
Thanks again for your business, and let us know if there is anything I can do.
Kris

remove french doors & replace with sliding door

Having made a few phone calls inquiring about replacing our French doors, one company quoted a good price ^ whn I asked about hidden costs, they asked how many windows will we be changing?? None I said, that's when the extra's started to add up. 2nd.call,person on the other end sounded like he really didn't hve the time of day & said this is the cost with no extras.Thru a friend, I called Long Life, spoke with Pat & felt more comfortable with the questions he asked, along with his answers. He quoted 2 sizes that might work for us, but asked to come over to have a better idea. Once in our home, he pointed out a couple of things that would need to be done to fit with the sizes, the choice was ours on which one. As we were told that the crew would take most of the day, they arrived early, smiling & cold, as it was one of coldest days & apologised to Iris that soon a big hole in the wall was about to happen. When I came home later that day, they were almost finsihed with the new trim work & it looked awesome. The crew cleaned up after themselves & took away the old doors. All around excellent service & followup. I also want to say, that the new sliding door looks awesome with it's new Hunter Douglas 4" Silhouette PowerRise from AFreshOutlook.com. You can call us anytime to answer any questions. Thanks Dwight & Iris 604-780-5272

Window Installation in windowless house wall

We had a window installed in a windowless bathroom of our townhouse. Peter at Long Life provided outstanding service and provided the support (in form of photos and guaranties) needed to get Strata and neighbour approval for the window. We chose a Vinyltech 6000 series casement window and are totally happy with the product (and with the natural light in our bathroom). We'll definitely use Long Life again for other renovation projects (such as new french doors) in the future and highly recommend their service.

Window Replacements and new door

Our windows and back door were done over last summer, a while ago, but I am just seeing this opportunity to post my opinion. To this day, we are overly satisfied with the professionalism, sensitivity, and efficiency of the sales people and carpenters. We had poorly installed windows replaced which have been stormed upon in the past few weeks, with no leakage. They look beautiful inside and out and make our house look more elegant.
What a great team!

Window and door replacement

We did a lot of research and obtained several estimates before making our decision to choose Long Life. We were completely satisfied with all aspects of our experience. Paul provided outstanding service and was able to schedule an incredibly convenient installation that allowed us to have the job completed during a narrow window of time before we moved in to our house. Rick and his installation crew were fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. We were especially grateful for the care they took not to cause any damage to our newly refinished hardwood floors. Best of all, the windows and door look great (and work well), and they preserve the traditional look we wanted on our character home. We're very picky customers, but we'd recommend Long Life enthusiastically and without any reservation.

Doors and Windows

I could not be more pleased with my recent Long Life installation of Fibreglass doors and vinyl windows. Peter visited my home for an estimate and was very well prepared with samples, pictures of past installations, manufacturer brochures and most importantly, his knowledge. My timeline for installation was quite short however Long Life bent over backwards to prioritize my job. They negotiated with the door and window suppliers then re-arranged their installation crews schedule to accommodate my job. Bernard and his well trained crew were total professionals. The install area was well protected, dust was minimized, debris was cleaned up and the quality of the workmanship was quite excellent. They got it right the first time which, unfortunately, is all too rare these days. Way to go Guys and many Thanks.

In conclusion, I am most pleased with the outcome and will certainly be recommending them to my friends, family and co-workers for their window and door needs.

New windows for whole house

We love our new windows. They look great and we love that we were able to keep the heritage style of our 1928 home. Rick and his crew were friendly and knowledgable. Peter the sales person was attentive and clearly knew his product inside and out. We compared Long Life to a few other window companies. We found them to be competative price wise and we preferred their product on the whole. The windows can be taken out and cleaned from the inside and the security features are very comforting. We would reccommed Long Life.

Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

In January Long Life Property Improvements installed new heritage style windows in our home. We are very happy with them and are appreciative for the care that was taken while installing these windows. Since then the house is warmer in the colder months and was much cooler this summer. The street noise are reduced significantly. There is a safety device built into the windows which allows the home owner to leave the window partially open and prevents a would be intruder from entering. Our windows are very easy to clean and operate. Long Life was careful to make sure that the original look of the house was preserved. All told an excellent job was executed, for which we are very grateful.

About ten years ago, I hired Longlife to replace some windows in my house. After moving recently, I hired them again. They were even better the second time around. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.
