Home move

I would like to thank, Michael for the wonderful job that Alex and his men did for my family. We had a lot of big heavy furniture and a mountain of boxes and they moved everything without a hitch. I also like the fact that they buy back the packing boxes at half price. It helps keep our costs down and doesn't waste good material. Thanks very much. We wish you every success with your business.

Home move

I was very pleased with my move on October 5th. The crew arrived on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. The were polite, friendly, and efficient. Nothing was damaged and the cost was a half hour less than the quote I was given. Thank you for very good service.

Reloction of household items

Thank you Moveworks for an excellent move last week. We had an enormous amount of furniture and boxes and were very concerned about it all getting done in one day. Thank you for your expertise and cheerful attitudes. Alex and his men were great and made the day as easy as possible.

Moving

Moveworks took my children and I to Peterborough to be closer to my dad who lives alone there and is not very well. The men were amazing. They took very good care of my belongings and were nice to my children, it was an extremely emotional day and they made it as easy as possible. The cost was exactly as i had been promised, and i will recommend them to friends in Toronto, who are moving.

Moving service

I was moved by Moveworks on August 28, 2012. It was the best moving experience I have ever had, and I have moved 4 times in the last 22 years since I got married. The men made my husband and I feel relaxed and comfortable as they started to move our belongings. Thank you for an easy day. We both appreciated it.

Moving service

My family was moved by Moveworks on Tuesday September 11, 2012. It was a thoroughly agreeable experience. The men were polite and careful and made the day as stress-free as humanly possible. Nothing was damaged and the cost was exactly what we had been told. Thank you and we will be recommending you to our friends and family.

Moving from one house to another

I will not recommend moveworks inc. the owner, Micheal, came to my house and promised my wife an easy move, the movers would take appart our beds and could move even my "ikea" furniture. Well moving day came and the movers asked me to disassemble my beds (what if I was at work, would they have asked my wife who was watching our two yound babies?) and then were smashing walls with the furniture down the stairs. They broke one of my dressing tables and then blamed it on the fact that it was ikea. My wife called the customer service right away and she said she would call the movers and tell them to be more gentle but that they couldn't replace the dresser as it was "ikea", I told her Micheal said it would be okay to move and the insurance I paid extra for with them would cover it, but she said no, he must not have been listening properly. Then they filled the truck, no gently at all and arrived at the new house. They didn't put anything in the new house in t he right place they just wanted to be out of my house because they guarentee the price won't go over the estimated hours given by Micheal, so they just put boxes everywhere and wanted to get paid. THey didn't help reassemble any furniture either. The whole experience was very stressful and I would never recommend them to anyone.

Company Response

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Leszczynski,

MoveWorks Inc.

I had to pay $985 (original quote to move the belongings to Barrie, even though I'd told them it would have to be stored for a few months) to move one truck load from a Scarborough house to a storage facility 17km away. It was stored there at Michael T's (the owner) advice, rather than in Barrie where I'd eventually be (if there was damage, I wouldn't know if it was their truckers, or the storage facility's). Several months later when I had a place I arranged for my stuff to be delivered to Barrie, only to find out from the drivers I had to pay another $985 (summer rates, you know, according to Ann T., owner's wife). If my stuff had been taken to a Barrie storage facility in the first place, having my things delivered to my new home would have cost much less than it did with MoveWorks. I would NEVER recommend them! I must point out that I did speak with Ann about storage in Toronto rather than Barrie because her husband recommended it. She said she'd speak to him about it. I never heard back from her about that, nor did she ever respond to the numerous emails I sent about the whole situation.

In response to the company, I reiterate. My belongings were stored in Scarborough, not Mississauga. I was advised to use local storage, and have the same company do the final delivery. Yes, I said, MoveWorks Inc. moved my stuff 17k from my house to storage in Scarborough for $985. In July they picked up my things from storage and brought them to Barrie, so yes, two moves. I knew nothing about the second charge until the items had been unpacked, then I had to make a trip to the bank to get the money. I don't dispute the amount of the charge from Toronto to Barrie, it makes sense, BUT why did I not get a refund on the 17k trip from the house to storage? Why was that also $985?

Company Response

This review is simply and completely unfair. We moved Meighen twice. First into storage in Mississauga and then out of storage to Barrie. Both moves were done well, there was no damage and both moves came in within the agreed upon price. No damage, no overbilling and good customer service throughout. The issue was storage and whether this customer's goods should have been stored in Mississauga or Barrie. This customer had 2 options. #1. We could arrange storage at a public storage facility in Mississauga at as good a rate as was available anywhere in the G.T.A. at that time. #2 Meighen could arrange the storage for herself in Barrie, as we have no contacts for storage in Barrie. In either case, she would she would pay the storage fees directly to the storage company. The point here is that we arrange storage as an accomadation to our customers. We do not make any money or profit on this. In most cases, the choice of location involves the following logic- storage at point of origin - in this case, Mississauga offers 2 benefits - first, the customer has easy access to her goods. Secondly, if the plan is to have the same mover do both moves, then the customer saves paying the travel time, to and from Barrie for 2 moves. The cheapest solution would be to have one mover pick up the goods and deliver these to a storage facility in Barrie - assuming that the storage rates in Barrie are lower in Barrie, and then have a local mover, move them from the storage facility to her new residence. The weakness of this plan, is that should there be any damage to the customer's furniture and goods, it would probably prove difficult to determine which mover was responsible, which in turn would make it difficult to get compensation for damages. All of this said and for the above mentioned reasons, most of our customers choose to store locally. In every case the choice belongs to the client and Meighen chose to store in Mississauga.
